TORQUAY
KENTS CAVERN is one of the oldest recognisable
human dwelling in Britain and the most important Palaeolithic caves in Northern Europe. It holds beautiful and geological formations and
significant prehistoric finds, some over 700,000 years old. To find out

MADHATTERS' TEAPOTTERY -
the Cheshire cat perches high above the fabulous mural on the outside of
the Bovey
Tracey teapottery. a popular and unique
old fishing village. In the 18thcentury many boats were launched from
the beach and larger vessels
sheltered in the bay. Some of these
fishermen may have been involved in the smuggling trade which continued in
Hope Cover until the 19th century.
TORRE
ABBEY is Torbay's most historic building. Built in 1196 you can
trace the 800 years of development from monastery, imposing home of wealthy
families, to Mayor's official residence of modern day. There are many
things to see at Torre Abbey including the historic dining room and family
chapel. The art galleries contain a stunning collection of pictures,
silver, glass and Torquay pottery. The most complete medieval abbey
ruins in Devon and Cornwall, including the "Spanish Barn" of Armada
fame. You can also visit the Agatha Christie memorial room, colourful
gardens and palm house. Open daily April to November, 9.30am to 6pm
(last admissions 5pm) - November to March, parties only by appointment.
The RIVIERA CENTRE incorporates the Waves Leisure Pool. If you are looking for entertainment and exercise for the whole family, be sure
to visit Waves Leisure Pool ~ it's indoor family fun. Waves Leisure Pool is open every day and under 5's swim for free (Admission Policy applies,
please call for details). With sloping entry into the pool, even the youngest children can enjoy the water and never feel out of their depth. All
can enjoy the wave machine in this warm indoor leisure pool every half an hour. For competent swimmers over 5 (and mums and dads too!) the flume
adds that extra excitement to your visit*. Friday nights and Sunday afternoons are 'Fun Sessions' in Waves Leisure Pool, complete with a giant
water inflatable dinosaur and toys for the children.
AQUALAND
is Torquay's new very own aquarium. Local marine life and exotic
fish from tropical waters can be found here along with many species of
reptiles and birds. AGATHA
CHRISTIE MILE AND TORQUAY MUSEUM - Discover more about this popular and
intriquing writer by following this one-mile trail that leads to places she
knew and loved: along the busy harbour and stretching along the palm-lined
seafront and promenades. Torquay of course is where Dame Agatha was born
in 1890, and in order to mark the resort's link with her, this special walk
even comes complete with a mystery to solve. The Torquay Museum has
undergone a 汬000 refurbishment thanks to the Heritage Lottery Fund grant
and will be a must see part of any visit to this popular seaside town.
The museum unveiled the new Devon Farmhouse gallery and cafe, as well as the
new Time Ark Gallery and Gift Shop. With
its reconstructed Victorian farmhouse kitchen and parlour and farmyard scene,
the new Devon Farmhouse armani exchange replica
gallery will be a sure favourite with the children.
The new Time Ark Gallery will house the natural science collections showing
the evolution of the environment and habitat of the local area using hands-on
interpretative displays. And Agatha Christie fans can use their own
investigating skills on the updated displays relating to the world famous
crime writer, who was born in Torquay.
TORQUAY
GOLF CLUB - Visitors are welcome if already a member of a golf club with a
Handicap Certificate. This 18 hole golf course is located in St
Marychurch, Torquay. BABBACOMBE
THEATRE - Situated on the beautiful Babbacombe Downs, this 600 seat
Theatre has an enviable reputation for providing best value entertainment and
accessibility to all. Variety is still alive and thriving with up
and coming stars performing as part of the country's longest running summer
