Babbacombe Theatre celebrates its 25th anniversary this year (2011) with a new production "Heatwave"

holiday cottages Babbacombe Theatre is just 5 minutes walk from our cottage St Anns and is situated on Babbacombe Downs, where it enjoys glorious sea views.

The site on which the theatre stands has been a musical venue since before 1920, when bands would assemble in the summer months to play live music to the gathered tourists and visitors. A bandstand was built in 1920 and later in 1935 a larger stand with a canvas awning was built. Then in 1938 the Babbacombe Downs Concert Hall was erected on the site and remained largely unchanged until the current management took over and the building was renamed Babbacombe Theatre.

The theatre today hosts many lavish productions and famous stars including Paul Daniels, Phil Jupitus, Lenny Henry, Jimmy Tarbuck, Des O'Connor, Bonnie Langford, Acker Bilk and Alvin Stardust.

The theatre celebrates its 25th anniversary this year (2011) with a new production "Heatwave", a musical show featuring highlights from Les Miserables, The Beatles, Lady Gaga and Shrek the Musical.
